: : CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

TPI has donated Rs 1 Lac , 2 AC’s and a Sony TV to Karunai Villa Trust as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility.

The goal of TPI’s Social Responsibility is to encourage a positive impact through its activities on the environment, employees and the communities in the near vicinity of the factory. Furthermore, TPI believes that Socially Responsible businesses would proactively promote the public interest by encouraging community growth and development, and voluntarily eliminating practices that harm the public sphere.

Inspite of being a small scale unit, TPI has made it a habit of practicing SR as a part of our core business , and the honouring of the 3P’s : people, planet, profit.

Apart from supporting the immediate needs of TPI’s own team members – education, marriage, medical etc – TPI has supported needs of physically and mentally challenged children through organisations like the Rotary Clubs , Leo Clubs and now, the Karunai Villa Trust .

About Karunai Villa ( means Mercy Dwelling ) Trust :

Founder

Founded by Ms Lizamma Mathews, a usual school teacher for six years till an accident in1996 changed her life. On her way back home from the School one day, she came across several boys throwing stones at a15 year old unclothed girl. The girl was clearly not in her sense, was just a piece of flesh- a laughing stock for the boys. Lizamma admitted the girl in the Hospital for the mentally ill, where the girl showed marked improvement in 15 days.

Little realizing that this voluntary act of kindness would be first of many to come. She realized the need of the time, spent a month at the Institution learning the basics of mental care. As she puts it, “There are so many in the teaching profession, but very few take up this work”. She also spent a year at NIMH (National Institute of Mental Health) in Hyderabad and also took up several honorary jobs in private hospitals in Kerala. Then in 1998, she started Karunai Villa meaning Mercy Dwelling.

A registered non-profitable organization founded in the year 1998 recognized by Government of India. It has dedicated its services for the rehabilitation of Physically challenged in particularly mentally challenged individuals, irrespective of their caste, religion, creed or age.
