We are looking for an experienced candidate (20 years) to manage our Toolroom team.
If selected, the candidate will be in charge of leading all team members – Sr. Tool Maker, Designer, Programmer & Operators. The manager must quote for, design, manufacture and develop defect-free moulds and maintain the moulds to support and aid the Production processes to achieve optimum levels of efficiency and operational excellence in order to accomplish Business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Tool Room team – Toolmakers, Designers, Programmers & Operators
- Oversee the design, manufacture, development, and maintenance of moulds to ensure zero-defect production
- Perform feasibility analysis and cost estimation for all new enquiries
- Review and approve mould designs (using SolidWorks)
- Prepare and monitor tooling project plans (daily, weekly, and monthly) to ensure timely delivery and adherence to budget
- Ensure 100% compliance with IATF 16949 standards, SOPs, and GMP
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, machining suppliers, and child part vendors for timely execution of tool-related activities
- Implement and monitor preventive and breakdown maintenance schedules to minimize downtime
- Analyze and reduce machining rejections and COPQ (Cost of Poor Quality)
- Drive 5S, 3C, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement activities in the Tool Room
- Collaborate with NPD and commercial teams for technical feasibility, cost estimation, and quotation support
- Maintain complete documentation including M&M, DFM, & project-specific records.
- Track tool OEE performance, manpower productivity, and capacity utilization
- Work independently and proactively resolve issues related to machining time, tool delays, and team performance
- Report regularly to management with MIS on tooling progress, deviations, and corrective actions
Candidate Profile
- DPMT Diploma in Plastic Mould Technology with PD PMD from CIPET/NTTF /GTTC
- Min. 20 years of experience in design and manufacture of plastic injection/ thermoset moulds
- Project management experience & ability to work under pressure
- Proficient in MS Office & in Solidworks
- Excellent Communication Skill & troubleshooting capability
- Must be within 40 mins by bike ride to the factory or willing to relocate
